Designed as the Indian headquarters for a global multinational, the IFM Electronic India Head Office reinterprets an internationally standardized office program through a distinctly modern Indian lens. Moving away from conventional glass façades, the design embraces climate responsiveness, local materiality, and energy-conscious planning.
At its core lies an open-to-sky courtyard inspired by the Brahmasthan of traditional Indian architecture and the spatial memory of Maharashtrian wadas, bringing light, ventilation, and nature into the workplace. Transparent interiors, a sculptural staircase within a triple-height atrium, and carefully choreographed natural light foster openness and collaboration.
Crafted with sandstone, exposed concrete, white masses, and warm teak accents, the building balances contemporary expression with contextual sensitivity. Passive strategies such as cavity walls, a wind tower, skylights, and cross ventilation ensure an energy-efficient workplace rooted in both global standards and local identity.
