Conceived as a sushegaat retreat in Goa for a close-knit group of friends from Chhattisgarh, The Frenders Villa at Assagaon explores the language of Goan maximalism , a conscious departure from the restraint and minimalism that often inform our work. Rooted in Goa’s layered cultural context, the villa embraces colour, tactility, ornament, and tropical openness to create an immersive holiday home attuned to leisure and rejuvenation.
Conceived as a shared retreat for five friends, while also functioning as a short-term rental, the house negotiates the duality of being both personal and universally inviting.
Free-flowing living spaces extend seamlessly into verandas and landscaped gardens, while white walls provide a restrained backdrop for expressive flooring, curated artwork, and richly layered interiors.
Each bedroom is imagined through a distinct chromatic identity, complemented by carved timber furniture and tactile detailing. Warm lighting, concrete balustrades, wrought iron railings, and vibrant materiality collectively root the villa within its regional context.
